MOVING ON...

Things have been quiet this month, with most of the action going on outside of the games, alot of team talk about what direction we should take.

I have decided to retire the CoD4 team, mainly due to the community becoming rather inactive after the xlan nationals, as well as Call of Duty 5 (and six...) already being announced, I personally have no hope left for CoD4 in the competitive scene.

All of us in sila love competitive gaming, that's why we are in sila, but with the New Zealand gaming scene being so small, it's hard to keep an active interest sometimes. So for that reason we have decided to kick off a Counter Strike Source team!

One thing I want to point out to anyone who had not already realised, is that sila is NOT a multigaming team, I oppose the idea of 'sucking up' previously established teams under a 'multi gaming banner' and calling them your own. In a flourishing gaming community, this could be considered fine, however with the small and frail state that NZ gaming is in, we need as many teams as possible to maximize ROI for companies willing to put up cash and prizes for the small amount of sponsored tournaments we do have.

sila has always tried as best we can, to take the same players, through all of the titles we compete in, from Battlefield 1942, two and 2142, to Call of Duty 4 through to CS:S. That said we do pick up one or two players every now and then when members retire out of the active team, however for the most part we are still the same team that you came up against in battlefield 2.

Our newest addition to the team is Rio, formally of CODA, he will be gracing us with his fragging abilities in CS:S, Welcome rio, you dirty Mexican.

VICTORY AT XLAN 08!

Gold gold gold ! for the team at xlan 08 this year. Sila competed in the call of duty 4 national xlan event this year, with over 17 teams entered, there was plenty of frags to be had!

We advanced to the finals in an undefeated streak, then managed to grab the win over team UpRising.

With the CoD4 tournament hosting only 5 player teams, we had alot of members at the xlan event without enough interest to launch a second CoD4 team, so the boys entered into a community made Battlefield 2 tournament for fun. Most of our entrants had not played BF2 in months and months so we were all happily surprised when we found ourselves in the finals.

However Victory was not to be ours, a well deserved win went to Cadre. They just outplayed and out held us. It was pleasing to watch and brought back alot of memories
